Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance

Who We Are

At Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, our highest purpose is to provide an invaluable resource for thousands of Northern California children with cancer and their families.

We are also active in supporting the quest to find a cure, serving as fundraiser for childhood cancer research. And we act as an educational resource for the greater community, helping people in the communities we serve to learn about childhood cancers and their devastating effects on children and families.

Why We Exist

Inspiring Nonprofit Winner Badge Comstock's

Childhood cancer is the cruelest of all diseases and is still the number one disease killer of children. When a child is diagnosed, lives are flipped upside down. Daily routines suddenly change, as hospital trips, hotel room stays, and meals on the road become the new normal. Jobs are often lost and incomes reduced, putting even more strain on an already stressful situation. At Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, we understand these challenges. Our goal is to care for the family and provide the resources they need to stay afloat financially and emotionally during this trying time.

But we also want to put an end to this suffering, which is why we are active in fundraising to support research into finding cures for many different types of cancer affecting children.

  • Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes
  • 1 in 5 children diagnosed in the U.S. will not survive
  • In the U.S. more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease.
  • Only 4 percent of all federal cancer research funding dedicated to pediatric cancer research, the Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance and supporters are a vital resource as hope for those going through a fight no child nor their family should ever have to endear.

How We Help

The Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance provides a network of compassionate support to children with cancer and their families. Our staff, volunteers, and supporters serve as a vital resource for hope to those going through a fight no child or family should have to endure alone.

Family Navigator Program

Each family we serve is assigned a navigator who provides support along with the information, resources, and education necessary to navigate the complexities of the family’s childhood cancer journey. One of the program features is a Hope Chest filled with educational resources, financial assistance, and gifts for all family members. The personal support and resources help families deal with the anxiety induced by a cancer diagnosis.

Despite the best efforts of a committed medical community, two in 10 children diagnosed with cancer still lose the fight. When this happens, we are there for the family. Each grieving family also receives a handmade memory box with grieving resources.

Who We Serve

Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance serves children and their families referred from the following partner hospitals: UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, Sutter Memorial, Kaiser Permanente Roseville, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, Kaiser Permanente Oakland.  As community support enables us to grow, we look forward to serving every California child and family facing the fight against cancer.

Childhood cancer numbers have improved over the years however, it is still affecting far too many children and families and the support of communities and organizations like Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance is what will eventually put an end to this silent killer and give our children the life they deserve to live.
